21 Weeks Pregnant.

Everett @ 21 Weeks Pregnant

Today marks 21-weeks pregnant with Everett James {yes, the name has been revealed} and considering I had to get myself out of leggings for the wedding this weekend, I figured I’d post a real pregnant picture too.

{Meg} Halloween 2009.

This is how Meg felt about Halloween this year…

She was also a witch (thanks, Gamma for the witch capes, even though I know you despise sewing…) and was quite pleased with herself once she got her entire outfit and hat on.  The only childs witch hat I could find was way too small and it kept popping off her head- I think we even left it in the car while we trick-or-treated.

Meg figured out the whole trick-or-treating thing pretty quickly.  We had brought the huge double BOB stroller with us (for transporting beer, obviously!), so Meg would knock on a couple doors, collect some candy, then take a ride in the stroller and chow down until she needed more candy!  In fact, this little strategy kept her going all night and she was still ready to trick-or-treat long after Janie had tuckered out.

Let’s take a little trip down Halloween memory lane…

Halloween 2009

Janie has been a witch for three years running now.  We’ve changed the outfit a bit each year, with this years addition of the striped tights, but otherwise, it’s pretty much the same.  We almost convinced her to be a cowgirl, but at the last minutes, it was back to being a witch.

We took the girls trick-or-treating up on  Viewmont in Magnolia, where there are probably five long, flat blocks of houses that decorate to the nines and hand out bags and bags of candy every year.  It’s always a great time to run into people you know (most with keg cups filled with adult beverages) and let the kids go from house to house without much worry.  We went strong for about an hour before the kids got tired and cold… and until Josh ran out of beer.

Janie ate all of her candy by the time Josh and I woke up this morning, which wasn’t surprising.  I didn’t even bother hiding it- I’d rather just get it over with now and not drag the candy eating out all week long.

Fallen Princesses

{Janie’s Favorite Princess, Snow White.}

Just the week before these pictures started popping up on blogs, Josh and I were being forced to watch yet another Disney Princess movie and I made the comment that I wish they made adult versions of the movies- you know, the R-rated versions of Cinderella, Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid.  How fun would that be?

If you are also a parent who could use a support group for your princess obsessed child, you must check out this amazingly creative and gorgeous collection, Fallen Princesses by Dina Goldstein.  It has been so overwhelmingly popular that it is currently being featured in an exhibit in Vancouver BC that I wish I could check out in person.

I originally discovered these from the lovely blogs A Cup of Jo and Cupcakes and Cashmere.  Check out more of Dina’s work here.

The Chicks & a Dick & Us?

October 23, 2009 by katiekavulla

If you haven’t already heard, we found out this week that we’re expecting a little boy in March, which is very exciting… and very shocking news.  Josh and I didn’t even consider that we’d have a boy and we’re still in a bit of a daze.

But now that we will have more than just chicks to raise, we need a new blog name!  {Thanks to Angie Mills for the suggestion in the title!}

Help us out!

Pics Around the Wall

{Found at You Are My Fave Jr.}

My to-do list for the inside of the house over the fall and winter is long.  Nothing extensive, but little things here and there that I’ve been neglecting all summer.  This picture was featured on You Are My Fave Jr in early June and I’ve had it saved in my inbox ever since for in our bedroom.  Although, I think I’ll mainly fill the frames with pictures of the girls and Josh and I.  Something about having family and friends pictures around my wall while I”m getting dressed and sleeping kind of creeps me out… {always has!}

People I Know with Blogs I Love.

Brooke

{Just B}

Meet B.  Her actual name is Brooke and I stole this picture from her Facebook profile, but nevermind that.  Brooke is the youngest sister of two of my lovely friends, Whitney and Bethany.  All three Andersen girls have had blogs and I’m thinking that this one is going to stick.  Loving B’s point of view on fashion and shopping with a sprinkle of notes about life in Arizona as a student and working at a bridesmaid boutique (hence our gorgeous dresses for Whitney’s wedding).  My recommendation- B a reader of Just B.

Hollin

{Vim and Verve}

The creative mind behind Vim and Verve, Hollin, and I used to work together at Anthropologie before she and her new husband moved to Portland.  Luckily I can keep up with Hollin via her blog, which is full of yummy recipes, Hollin’s creations (see them on Etsy too), inspiring outfits, adventures in Portland and other lifestyle goodies.  Plus, check out Hollin’s lovely wedding on famous blogs such as You Are My Fave and 100 Layer Cake.

PREP

I knew that Anne & Danielle had something up the creative sleeves of their cardigans, but when the website for PREP {A Proper Event Planning Company for Children} launched last week, I just about died.

Plan a party.  Use PREP.  I can’t wait to!

Pun-kins.

October 19, 2009 by katiekavulla

I think that going pumpkin patching is probably one of my most favorite things to do all year long.  There’s just something about it that I can’t resist and get eager for every Fall.  Last year was kind of a pumpkin patch bust- we went too late and to the wrong place and ended up picking up pumpkins at our local Safeway on the way home.  This year, we were determined to make it the best ever.

We headed out to Jubilee Farm in Carnation on Sunday morning with our friends, the Benningtons.  It was the perfect pumpkin patch- pony rides, pigs and chickens, hay rides out to the pumpkin fields where the pumpkins, mud, and a hay maze that made everyones’ allergies flare up.

Neigh Rides

The girls saw the ponies, so we had to ride asap when we got out of the car.  Once Charlie and Linda arrived, we hitched a ride on the hay wagon and headed out to the actual pumpkin patch which was full of lots and lots of great healthy pumpkins.

Janie Pumpkins

Janie fell in love with every pumpkin she saw and went through three or four perfect pumpkins before we made her commit to one.

Meg Pumpkins

Meg labelled every pumpkin as “BIG PUNKIN!” and had the best time tromping around through the pumpkin vines, despite falling over every ten steps.
